Paper filigree

Colored cardboards become iconic images

The changed cultural habits led to the closure of a company of exceptional quality photo albums that was close to my laboratory. The idea that these wonderful cardboards and papers still made by hand could go to pulp has squeezed my heart and I decided to buy the entire warehouse.

Then I asked myself what to do with it. I know how to model. I therefore thought of "modeling" these cardboards, duly cut to size, within a rigid structure such as a corten frame and creating high reliefs or bas-reliefs.

I used the cardboard as if it were clay with the variant which, being already colored, it immediately gives a pictorial effect to the work. The important and decisive colors of the material led my hands spontaneously towards pop art and I made iconic characters and distinctive skylines .
